Each herb in our Menopause Comfort herbal tea blend has benefits on their own, but are much more powerful when combined together. Listed below are some of the herbs in our blend that’s made specifically for menopause.
Angelica Root
Angelica root, or Dong Quai, is an herb used in Japan, China, and Korea as food and medicine. The use of this root spans over two thousand years. It’s known as the “female ginseng”. This is because it has especially been used to help “enrich” the blood of women. For example, women were to take this herb after childbirth or during menopause to help improve their quality of life.
Increasing research shows Angelica roots’ effectiveness in treating several ailments. For instance, it’s used to help with menopausal cramps, hot flashes, dry skin and eyes, and dull complexion. In addition, angelica root contains ligustilide, a compound thought to help cramps, especially in the uterine muscles.
Solomon’s Seal Rhizome
Solomon’s seal was named for the biblical king Soloman. He was said to have respected this herb so much he put his seal of approval upon the plant. It is said that the star formation in the root that appears when the plant is cut is that very seal. Similarly, it was used by early Native American cultures and is native to the Midwestern United States. These cultures respected Solomon’s seal for its many health supporting properties.
Solomon’s seal is used to ease joint pain, soothe an upset stomach, and manage stress. Generally, with aging comes the wearing down of joints and the tissues around them. Solomon’s seal may increase the production of fluids surrounding joints, which can ease pain.
Its inflammation reducing properties also may reduce pain and soothe gastrointestinal upset. Solomon’s seal root is known as an adaptogen, which means it helps the body process stress. During the transitional period of menopause, adaptogens are perfect for brining balance back to the body.
Astragalus Root
Astragalus root is also an adaptogenic herb. In combination with the other adaptogens in this blend, astragalus is helpful in fighting the stress of menopause. Astragalus also contains powerful immune system supporting properties, which not only boost daily health, but keep the body feeling energetic.
Even on its own, astragalus root is known for its ability to soothe hot flashes, depression, or even night sweats. It’s a good idea to start using astragalus even before the onset of menopause, because it’s great for fighting perimenopause symptoms too.
Eleuthero Root
Eleuthero root contains both adaptogenic and immunity supporting properties. It’s another important adaptogen to help bring stasis and balance back to the body. This herb helps those experiencing menopause as it binds to estrogen receptors in the body. In other words, it can trick the body into thinking it has more estrogen. For many women, estrogen withdrawal causes a wide variety of problems. This herb may be the perfect solution to those issues.
Sea Buckthorn Leaf
Sea buckthorn is an exceptionally nutritious plant that grows across Asia and Europe. Every part of the plant, from the fruit, to the bark and leaves are rich with antioxidants, vitamins, and amino acids. Sea buckthorn leaves are excellent for nourishing the body with fatty acids and minerals- which can help women feel better during menopause.
